Innovation Expo 2017 

This year’s celebration of all the fantastic food, chefs, innovations, suppliers and people that make Restaurant Associates so great took place on Nomura’s sun-soaked terrace.

The annual event showcases all the great work that our teams do every day to bring the best food and service to our customers, featuring everything from where our fresh fish is sourced to the delicious range of street food dishes and collaborations with guest chefs that are available in our restaurants.

Jason Atherton took the stage in the Demo Theatre with Head Chef Keith Hooker from Temple & Sons, Jason’s latest collaboration with Restaurant Associates, demonstrating the important role that talented chefs and high quality suppliers play in continuously bringing delicious, exciting dishes to their customers.

Next to the stage was Michel Roux Jr with Head Chef and Masterchef: The Professionals winner, Steve Groves, who discussed how crucial it is to develop teams that understand that beautiful presentation must be matched with the exceptional flavours and ingredients that go into creating the menu at Roux at Parliament Square.

The Suppliers Market, Street Food and Tasting Hall areas also featured dishes from the amazing culinary talent and teams from across RA, including Paula Oliver and Gimena Cigliutti from this year’s Bake Off Crème de la Crème with their beautiful selection of patisserie from the show, Dipna Anand showcasing her delicious range of authentic Indian dishes, treats from our extremely talented Head Pastry Chef Natalie Sheridan’s range ‘Baked by Natalie’, as well as espresso martinis from the coffee addicts at Hej – just to name a few.

 

The event was a perfect opportunity to introduce RA’s re-branded Talent Labs with dedicated training departments focused on providing our Chefs, Baristas, Management, Retail and Front of House teams with the highest quality, bespoke training.

It was also a chance to highlight the innovative processes and systems that have recently been introduced across our sites such as Wasted, our range of dishes created entirely from food waste, plant based dishes using the hydroponic produce from Growing Underground as well as a range of nutritionally balanced options from our new health and wellbeing focused website Nourished Life. 

With tasters of everything from artisanal cheeses by Neal’s Yard Dairy to meatballs from The Bowler, street food inspired dishes from our ingenious Head Chefs Mustafa Salimin and Wayne Ebner, sourdough pizzas and fantastic barbeque food from Jason Atherton and the Temple & Sons team, we were all completely stuffed by the time the evening came to a close, beer in hand on the stunning terrace by the Thames watching the sun set over St Paul’s Cathedral.

The entire event had a fantastic atmosphere, bringing the whole RA family together in celebration of the brilliant industry that we’re all a part of and the outstanding teams and food that make it all possible.
